Electromagnetic Inspection (EMI)
Electromagnetic inspection is a new, more effective and efficient tubing inspection service offered by HOT Tools in association with industry leader Newtech NDT Inspection Services. Electromagnetic inspection or EMI is a highly accurate on-site method for tubing inspection which does not rely on the use of potentially harmful radiation or x-rays. Compared to alternative inspection methods which only detect one or two types of defect detection, the ARTIS-4 wellhead inspection device provides on-site reports for ID and OD pitting, Corrosion, Rod Wear, Vertical Split Detection and Thru-Hole Flaws in well tubing. EMI monitors each distinction of defect separately making inspection much more accurate than competitor’s services. EMI is a non-contact inspection method that can be utilized on vertical, slant and all other angle well installations. The non-contact nature of this inspection device further decreases possible damage to the inspected tubing, therefor increasing pipe lifespan.
Hot Tools and Newtech NDT's EMI service is not only a more effective inspection alternative but also a substantially more time efficient method. Due to the relative light weight of the inspection device, setup and take down of the device is quick and painless. With no time needed for calibration and accurate inspection of up to 200 feet-per-minute, EMI provides a clear advantage in time and cost savings. Inspections can also be done while running tubing in, and reports can be delivered immediately by printout, USB or email. Hot tools and Newtech NDT Inspection Services also offer inspection for continuous rod and coil tubing applications.
